WhatsApp Messenger updated to support free VoIP calls and more

Image
WhatsApp Messenger has become one of the most popular messaging apps on the planet, and the latest update adds even more functionality to the service. The update is built around the idea of sharing more and being even more connected, thanks to one of the largest new features to the service: Free VoIP calling. It works in the same way that Skype and some other services do, allowing WhatsApp users to initiate free calls to other WhatsApp users. One thing to note, though, is that WhatsApp says the new feature will be rolling out over the next few weeks, so even though the update itself is available now, the service might not be available just yet. On top of that, WhatsApp Messenger now has access to iOS 8 Extensions, allowing users to share photos and more from other apps into WhatsApp Messenger. Here’s the full changelog: • WhatsApp Calling: Call your friends and family using WhatsApp for free, even if they’re in another country. WhatsApp calls use your phone’s Internet conne...

How to auto hide the dock and remove its delay on the Mac

Image
The idea of auto hiding the dock has always seemed appealing, because it give back the real estate normally lost by an always-present dock. The downside to auto hide, however, is the slight delay that occurs whenever the dock shows and hides. For me, the delay totally kills the idea of using auto hide. Apple about to launch peer-to-peer payments through texts, emails, and phone calls

Image
With the launch of Apple Pay, it was just as much about the future as it was the present, as expanding the service’s use was immediately a topic of conversation. One of the logical next steps for Apple Pay is peer-to-peer payments, which would allow an Apple Pay user to send money to someone, probably another Apple Pay user, as easily as sending a text message. Indeed, a report released in November, citing multiple sources, suggest Apple is hard at work on bringing peer-to-peer payments to its iMessage service. And now another report from  Quartz  has outlined how Apple could be considering expanding that functionality right out of the gate. According to the report, Apple has filed for a patent application in December of 2015 that outlines sending money through text messages, emails, and even in a phone call. Calendar invites are included in the options, too. There isn’t a lot of profit in peer-to-peer payments, it seems, as the original report outlines. C...
