Glide for iOS update brings live video messaging to the Apple Watch

Glide — the video messaging service for iPhone and iPad — has received an update that adds a companion Apple Watch app to the iPhone app.
The companion Apple Watch app will inform Glide users when they receive any new video message from their friend, and will also display a small preview of the message right on their wrist. To view the full video message though, users will be required to open the app on their iPhone. Since the Apple Watch lacks a front-facing camera, Apple Watch owners will not be able to directly shoot and send videos from the smartwatch to their friends.
Glide users will also be able to receive and reply to text messages from their friends using the text-to-speech feature of the smartwatch. Below is a quick sneak peek of the app for the Apple Watch:
In addition to the above features, the companion Apple Watch app will also make use of the “Handoff” feature thereby allowing Glide users to continue watching a video from their Watch on their iPhone.
Glide’s CEO, Ari Roisman, said in a statement to Venture Beat that his company is “very bullish” on the Apple Watch and “that live video messaging from your wrist will rapidly become the easiest way to keep in touch with friends and family on the go.”
