Native auto-play videos are in Faebook's Mobile Ad Network

Facebook auto-play video ad

In 2014, Facebook officially unveiled the Mobile Ad Network, which allowed advertisers to bring their ads to third-party apps on iOS.
To expand that functionality, and bring even more money to partners, Facebook is bringing native auto-play videos to the Mobile Ad Network, as revealed by TechCrunch. According to the report, Facebook is adding the native auto-play videos in light of these types of advertisements having 7X better performance than other traditional ads, while unique impressions from native ads have jumped to 80%, up from 60% just in March of this year.
When users who are logged into Facebook visit an app on the Audience Network, they get shown personalized ads sold by Facebook that are targeted based on that person’s Facebook info like their age, gender, interests, and activity. Facebook takes a cut for doing the targeting and gives the rest to the app developer, who doesn’t have to hire their own ad sales team.
As the original report notes, this methodology from Facebook means that it can actually start showing fewer ads within its own mobile app. Cleaning up the News Feed, by removing ads, and allowing its partners to show better-performing ads within their own aps, using targeted information provided by Facebook, is good news for the heavy Facebook user.
