Apple changes Passbook name as Wallet

During its WWDC conference today, Apple announced that it has decided to change the name of its stock iOS app Passbook to Wallet. The move makes sense, considering that last fall it took over Apple Pay duties, and soon it will be getting store and reward cards.
That’s right, you can now add store and rewards cards from retailers and restaurants. Kohl’s, Walgreens, Dunkin Donuts are all apparently on board for the launch of this initiative, and it sounds like Apple is talking to a number of other high profile partners.

The NSA and other agencies planned on injecting malware into smartphones through Google Play Store

Security on our smartphones and tablets, the devices that hold plenty of attention about us, is an incredibly hot topic as of late. With programs from a variety of agencies and organizations built to track, mine and otherwise store data collected from mobile devices, especially our smartphones, it’s a conversation that will not go away for quite some time. Now, a new topic has been revealed, with documents revealed by Edward Snowden, that showcases plans for the National Security Agency (NSA) and Five Eyes Allies (organizations in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United Kingdom) to essentially hijack the Google Play Store to inject malicious software on smartphones and tablets that download apps from the digital storefront. Facebook Messenger launches for Web browsers

Facebook has a lot happening at any given moment, especially when it comes to apps, and there’s probably no slowing that down anytime soon. Keeping up with the idea that more is better, Facebook has announced a browser-based version of its popular Messenger service. The new feature has a dedicated page at  Messenger.com , and it does exactly what one might think: it’s a dedicated page to access Facebook Messenger, and that’s it. The question, then, is why Facebook feels the need Messenger needs its own web page, considering Facebook users can already chat using Messenger from a web browser, thanks to just visiting their Facebook page. According to  Re/code , after speaking to a Facebook spokesperson, Messenger.com is meant to get rid of the distractions that the standard Facebook page can hand out in droves.
