 Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 Air this fall, and a new leak claims that it will have an incredibly small battery. If accurate, this means that owners of the unconfirmed device can expect particularly poor battery life from their new iPhone. The report comes via leaker Instant Digital, who posted to their Weibo social network to confirm that the battery will have a capacity smaller than 3,000mAh. As MacRumors points out, the last time we saw an iPhone with such a small battery was when the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models launched. This leak also backed up a previous report by The Information that suggested the iPhone 17 Air would have worse battery life than the current iPhones that are on sale. The long-time Apple rival, Samsung, is set to release a port of several apps to iOS later this year in an effort to increase the cross-platform appeal of its devices including speakers, tablets and fitness trackers. According to the folks over at SamMobile, Samsung is working on apps that will allow their accessories to work with iOS devices. These apps include the Gear Fit Manager and a port for S Health, which helps to log activity, food and sleep. For you iOS device owners who might not know, apps such as the Gear Fit Manager and S Health typically come preinstalled on Samsung phones, similar to apps like Health on the iOS platform. It is no secret that Google pays Apple millions of dollars to keep Google Search as the default search engine on all iOS devices. However, it has always remained unclear as to how much money Google has actually had to pay to Apple. Now, a recent court transcript of the Oracle vs. Google debate was obtained by Bloomberg,  which reveals that Google paid Apple a staggering $1 billion in 2014. The court transcript also reveals that “at one point in time the revenue share was 34 percent.” It was not clear if this percentage was kept by Google or was paid to Apple. Apple has released iOS 9.2.1 (build number: 13D15) for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to the public, a week after releasing the first beta version of iOS 9.3 to developers. Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 9.2.1 on December 16, following the second beta finding its way to developers and public testers back on January 4. iOS 9.2, for its part, was a minor update on its own, fixing several behind-the-scenes things, improving performance, and otherwise improving the overall system. Yesterday,  a report surfaced  that suggested that Apple was building a tool that would help iOS users switch to its main competing platform, Android, if they wanted to go down that route. And while Apple doesn’t comment on rumors all that often, turns out this one was gaining enough traction, or just seemed ridiculous enough, that the company decided to end things before it got too out of hand. As per a “senior industry source”, Apple has already agreed to the demands of operators and will develop a simple tool to allow customers to transfer their data from an iPhone to an Android device. Operators believe that the lack of a data transfer tool can act as a potential deterrent for technologically challenged customers from leaving Apple’s ecosystem. With the launch of Apple Pay, it was just as much about the future as it was the present, as expanding the service’s use was immediately a topic of conversation. One of the logical next steps for Apple Pay is peer-to-peer payments, which would allow an Apple Pay user to send money to someone, probably another Apple Pay user, as easily as sending a text message. Indeed, a report released in November, citing multiple sources, suggest Apple is hard at work on bringing peer-to-peer payments to its iMessage service. And now another report from  Quartz  has outlined how Apple could be considering expanding that functionality right out of the gate.
