Apple may launch 4-inch iPhone 6c along with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
There have been rumors that Apple may launch a 4-inch iPhone, often called iPhone 6c, along with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Recent reports have claimed that Apple was planning to launch a 4-inch version of iPhone 6 this year but has scrapped the idea. The earliest Apple could launch a 4-inch ‘iPhone 7c’ will be in 2016 to replace iPhone 5s.
Evan Blass aka evleaks who has a great track record when it comes to product leaks has tweeted that Apple may launch iPhone 6c along with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
According to some analysts who expect Apple to launch the 4-inch iPhone 6c this year, it will be more like “an extended version of the iPhone 5s” with a metal unibody, rather than an updated iPhone 5c made of plastic.
Some expect the iPhone 6c to be a smaller version of the iPhone 6s, as opposed to a cheaper iPhone aimed at those on a budget. That’s what the iPhone 5c tried to be, and while many expected the device to be a big success, it didn’t quite turn out like that. Its aging internals and lack of flagship features like Touch ID meant many were willing to spend the extra for an iPhone 5s. But if the iPhone 6c is simply a smaller version of the iPhone 6s for those who do not want a larger smartphone, it’s likely to be much more successful.
It is worth pointing out that while there have been several iPhone 6c related rumors, unlike the iPhone 6s, parts of the 4-inch iPhone haven’t leaked so far. Few days back,iPhone battery with 1715mAh capacity had leaked, which could be for the iPhone 6c rather than iPhone 6s.
Apple is expected to unveil iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, probably iPhone 6c too if this rumor turns out to be accurate, at a media event on September 9.
