Apple watch keeps time 4x more accurate than iPhone, detailed Kevin Lynch, Vice President of Technology of Apple

Image
The Apple Watch is a smartwatch, so that means it can do a lot of things. But one of the elements that Apple is most proud of, and the thing that should count the most for a watch, is how accurate it is in telling you what time it is. Now that the wearable has been on the market for a few months now, and as the clocks inexorably tick closer to a brand new year,  Mashable  took some time to talk to Apple’s Kevin Lynch, who is the Vice President of Technology at the company and has been working on the Apple Watch ever since joining the ranks. In the sit-down, Lynch detailed the power of the Watch’s ability to keep time, and even compared it to the time-keeping abilities of the iPhone. For those who might have forgotten, Apple has marketed the Apple Watch as an incredibly accurate timepiece, going as far as to say that the device “keeps time to within 50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard.” On a broad scale, that’s good news. But when working i...

Twitter for Mac is redesigned with dark theme, GIF support and more

Image
Twitter for Mac has been a relic of a past age for a long time, but after an initial report stated a refresh was coming down the pipe, it’s finally arrived. Twitter for Mac has officially been updated to version 4.0.0, and, with it, brought plenty of new features, oft-requested features that have been missing in past iterations of the app, and better optimizations to hopefully make the experience better overall. The new version features a Dark Theme, too, which should go right along with that dark menu and Dock in OS X. Twitter says to not call it a comeback, but, you could probably call it a comeback if you wanted. Here’s the full change log: What’s New in Version 4.0.0 Don’t call it a comeback! Twitter for Mac is getting the update you’ve been asking for. Now it looks and feels more like the Twitter you carry with you everyday. We’ve built in some of the most-requested features so your Twitter for Mac experience combines what you love about Twitter with the el...

TaiG team is also working on iOS 9.2 jailbreak

Image
Few days back, there were rumors that the  Pangu team was working on a jailbreak for iOS 9.2 . Not surprisingly, Pangu is not the only team working on the iOS 9.2 jailbreak. 3K Assistant has confirmed that TaiG team is also working on the iOS 9.2 jailbreak. 3K Assistant, TaiG’s partner had announced that they had made a breakthrough in jailbreaking iOS 9.2, and they hope to release an untethered iOS 9.2 jailbreak tool soon. Stephen Chan of  Superphen.co  who was first to report the news, provides the English translation of 3K Assistant’s announcement: It has been 8 days since iOS 9.2 has been officially released. In those 8 days, 3K Assistant has been industrious on iOS 9.2 jailbreak. Our effort was rewarded, after 8 days of hard work, 3K Assistant has finally made some breakthrough on iOS 9.2. Although iOS 9.2 is yet completely jailbroken, I believe in the very near future, iOS 9.2 untethered jailbreak will be pre...

Pangu team has a working jailbreak for iOS 9.2 (rumor)

Image
Apple released iOS 9.2, which includes several bug fixes and improvements. Apple had seeded the first beta version of iOS 9.2 to developers on October 27. So iOS 9.2 widely awaited release as jailbreakers have been hoping that if Pangu or TaiG team have a working jailbreak, then they would wait for Apple to release iOS 9.2. Apple had killed the Pangu Jailbreak for iOS 9 – iOS 9.0.2 by patching two vulnerabilities in iOS 9.1. Several readers have pointed to  rumors  that Pangu team had a working jailbreak for iOS 9.2 beta 4, and we were waiting for Apple to release iOS 9.2 to the public. Pangu team hasn’t made any statement, so it is difficult to confirm if it is true. They also haven’t provided any hints to suggest that have managed to successfully jailbreak iOS 9.2. All we can do at this point of time is wait for the Pangu team to release the iOS 9.2 jailbreak, which should be released soon if it is ready, assuming Apple has...

Rumor says Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge To Be Announced In February In Two Different Sizes

Image
Now that Christmas is out of the way, attention can finally turn to the important things in life – new smartphone releases. Samsung has long been rumored to be getting ready to announce a new Galaxy S flagship phone, and a new report claims that the Galaxy S7 may not to be too far away at all. In a new report, it is now claimed that Samsung’s Galaxy S7 will make an appearance in February of next year, meaning those holding off on buying a new phone before Samsung’s latest and greatest arrives will only have to wait a few more weeks before their buying decision gets a whole lot easier. Actually, that may not strictly be the case with the news also seeping out that Samsung will be offering differing screen sizes for the new device, apparently in an attempt to try and sew up as much of the market as possible in the light of Apple’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus giving iPhone buyers two screen sizes to choose from. The report, which may be spot on or wildly inaccurate – w...

‘iPhone 6c’ said to feature 2GB of RAM and larger battery than iPhone 5s

Image
The “iPhone 6c” is about as mythical as the “iPhone 7” at this point, but if rumors are any indication of future plans, then Apple must be gearing up for another small iPhone. The latest report is from  MyDrivers , and initially surfaced from  Gadgetz Arena . In it, unnamed sources reportedly tied to Foxconn state that there will be plenty of changes to the iPhone 6c when compared to previous generations of the iPhone, including the iPhone 5s. While the iPhone 6c will supposedly feature the same size screen as the iPhone 5s, measured in at 4 inches, a set of key differences will help it stand out next year. That includes an increase to not only the battery, but also available RAM under the hood. The report indicates that the iPhone 6c’s battery will be measured in at 1642mAh, which is an uptick from the iPhone 5s’ battery measured in at 1570mAh. On top of that, the iPhone 6c will supposedly boast 2GB of RAM — the same amount that’s present in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus...

Apple TV - how to restart and put into sleep mode

Image
Apple TV 4   is one of the favorite Apple purchases. It's already covered some of the basics for using the device and its new Siri Remote. But while it is super easy to just leave the device running until it turns off automatically, you can manually put the device into sleep mode. You can also restart the device should you run into any issues.  How to restart or put your Apple TV into sleep mode Putting the device to Sleep: Method 1: Similar to the Sleep/Wake mentality of iOS, there is no OFF option for the Apple TV. You can place the device into sleep or standby mode, which will shut off the white LED light that signals that the device is awake and running. On the Siri Remote press and hold the  Home  button for a few seconds. In the pop-up menu select  Sleep . Method 2: Find Settings on the main menu and select  General -> Sleep Now.  Your device will go into sleep mode. You do not have to put the device to sl...

Holiday sales statistics shows Apple dominated by 49 percent of new device activation

Image
As per  Flurry Insights , which is backed by Yahoo, of all the smartphones that were activated during Christmas, Apple products accounted for 49.1 percent of them. Samsung came in a distant second with 19.8%, while Nokia (surprisingly) came in third with 2 percent share. LG and Xiaomi finished the rear with a share of 1.7 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively. While Apple’s dominance is understandable, it is surprising to see Xiaomi enter this list since Christmas is not that big of a festive period in China. Samsung also saw its device activations increase from 17.7 percent in 2014 to 19.8 percent. Its growth was largely led by low-end devices like the Galaxy Grand Prime, Core Prime and its flagship Galaxy S6 series. The data collected byFlurry Insights also indicates the growing consumer preference towards phones with bigger size screens a.k.a phablets. They accounted for 50 percent of device activations in the Android ecosystem on Christmas, while the i...

JAILBREAK TWEEK : Cabbage lets you queue songs in Music app with 3D Touch on ios 9

Image
Cabbage  is an interesting new jailbreak tweak that enhances your experience using the stock Music app. The tweak takes advantage of 3D Touch to queue songs in the Music app and add to the Up Next list. Normally, you can do this by tapping on the ellipsis button located next to a song and choosing the ‘Add to Up Next’ option. Cabbage simplifies this task by letting you perform 3D Touch gesture on a song to be queued. To notify you that the selected song has been added to the Up Next list, the tweak also displays a red notification in the Status bar when performing 3D Touch. If you don’t own an iPhone with 3D Touch capability, you don’t need to worry as Cabbage also works with tweaks such as reveal Menu which bring 3D Touch feature to older devices. The tweak doesn’t come with any preferences pane so once you’ve installed it, you’re good to go. To get started, you’ll have to add the following new source to Cydia fir...

JAILBREAK TWEEK : BetterStatusBar9 lets you hide or unhide the Status bar when in a full-screen app

Image
When you’re using an app in full-screen mode, one of the annoying thing is that the Status bar remains hidden and you can only take a look at it by either going back to the Home screen or invoking Notification Center. BetterStatusBar9 is a new iOS 9 jailbreak tweak that lets you solve this problem. The tweak allows you to view the Status bar by swiping down from the top of the screen. Normally, this would show the Notification Center grabber but with BetterStatusBar9 installed, the Status bar is displayed. It will remain at the top of the screen for a short duration of time before it hides again. You can still launch Notification Center by swiping down again from the screen top when the Status bar is shown. The tweak also comes with a dedicated preferences pane that doesn’t feature much configuration other than a single toggle that allows you to enable or disable it on demand. I wish the developer also provided an option to adjust the duration of time the ...

iPhone 7 Edge concept Video

Image
With the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus next year, Apple will be giving the iPhone lineup a design refresh. Apple usually refreshes the design of the iPhone once in every two years so this should not really come as a surprise.  At this point, the iPhone 7 is in early stages of its development so it is exactly unclear how the device will look. However, that has not stopped concept artist  SCAVidsHD  from coming up with their own take on the design of the iPhone 7. Dubbed the ‘iPhone 7 Edge’, the creator envisions the next iPhone to feature a 5.5-inch curved display with 2K resolution display, an A10 chip with 4GB RAM, 3500mAh battery, surround sound speakers and a 16MP camera. The concept looks similar to the iPhone 6 from the front, with only a few minor design tweaks, including speaker grilles at the top and bottom. Taking a cue of out Samsung’s book, the display of this concept iPhone 7 extends to its edges for an immersive experience....
